Individual In-depth Interview

This method of interviewing involves one participant, and is semi-structured in its style. The interviewer has a schedule of questions that they use as a guide to draw information out of the participant. It is useful in recording an account from the perspective of the individual being interviewed. With this in mind, it is important to consider who is being interviewed and what factors contribute to their perspective, and how their perspective contributes to your overall research.

Individual in-depth interviews are usually 30 min – 90 minutes in length and are recorded either in written, audio or visual form by the researcher (with consent from the interviewee).
